The Puffadder shyshark is endemic to South Africa

The Puffadder shyshark is endemic to South Africa and it's latin name is Haploblepharus edwardsii which resulted in their alternative nickname 'Happy Eddie'.

George Edwards was the first to describe and illustrate the puffadder shyshark in 1760, while on a trip to the Cape of Good Hope. However, he didn’t name the shark after himself – Swiss naturalist Heinrich Rudolf Schinz named the shark H. edwardsii in honour of George in 1822
